Week 30: Happier than a glass of milk and babies...

Also, I know it`s almost a month past this now but I`ve been out for 6 months!

This past week was full of miracles. It was finally sunny WHICH IS A BLESSING AND A HALF so Hallelujah... although sun does not equal warmth so I was still wearing 1-2 pairs of tights, but such is mission life.

When the flowers are as big as your head....

The first miracle is that I finished the Book of Mormon. Man does that book make me happier than a glass of milk and babies....which is practically impossible. Needless to say, I love the Book of Mormon.

Nothing has brought me more peace and happiness, despite the circumstances of my day, than by reading this book. There are countless testimonies of the Book of Mormon and its divinity, one of which I`ll include a link too just because it`s my personal favorite,

but I just wanted to leave each of you with my personal testimony of the Book of Mormon. I don`t have enough time to truly share my experience of reading the Book of Mormon, but I do want you to know that God truly does love us, and he has given us so many things in this life to help us to grow closer to him, and His son, Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It teaches and testifies of His divinity and mission, and I have grown closer to my Savior because of it. The promise left by Moroni is real.

Behold, would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God  that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto  the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall  receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
And when ye shall receive these things, would exhort you that ye would ask God, the  Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not trueand if ye shall ask with a  sincere heartwith real intenthaving faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto  you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, because I have prayed about it and I have felt the change it has brought about in my life. The Spirit has witnessed to me of its truthfulness, and I have learned, through experience, the blessings that come from `feasting upon the words of Christ`. I know that the stories within it aren`t just stories, but that they are full of real people and their experiences with God, and that if we are truly seeking, that Heavenly Father will help us to learn how we can apply their experiences into our own lives.

Our other miracles this week revolve around the Book of Mormon as well. We are blessed to be working with several new investigators. I`ve run out of time this week for e-mailing so I will have to share their experiences with ya`ll next week.

Love always,
Sister Robertson

This is my sweet baby girl leaving for her exchange with Sister Lai ( who is actually my Sister in the mission because she was trained by Sister Wright as well. So Sister Amat Sokupit was just hanging around the town with her Aunt for the day.)
We had exchanges last week. This is Sister Madson  I am so grateful for Sister Missionaries.

This is the Well`s family. They are some of the less actives we have been working with. I love them literally so much. Sister Mecham (Bianca Well`s momma) was my last Relief Society President in Surrey and she came up for our lesson last week!

Also, fun side story about Sister Amat. We were talking to President Burt the other day and Sister Amat asked him if she still needed to do 12-week (which is a program that we do with all our trainies to help them adjust into the mission.) He told her no. And so then I was like uh.... wait, what. What do you mean you don`t have to do your training. And she just looked at me and said.... uh... I have a secret. So turns out, Sister Amat served for 3 months in Singapore before coming to Canada while waiting for her VISA. So I`m actually her 4th trainer now. She never told anyone other than President, because there is still a HUGE culture shock and difference coming to Canada and every mission is so different and so she knew she would need to still learn new things. No wonder it`s been a piece of cake to train her! She`s already been a missionary for 5 months lol.

On Saturdays we walk. Everywhere.

Here`s a super awk Easter Selfie for your enjoyment.

Week 29: Patience is related to hope and faith- you must wait for the Lord's promised blessings to be fulfilled

Things have been really good. Oddly enough, even though I am follow-up training, I finally feel like I have my feet on the ground again. These last couple of weeks have been so good and I love being with sweet Sister Amat. Sometimes the language barrier can be a little challenging, but most often it doesn't get in the way. I'm a pretty fast pace person, so I think it has helped me to slow down a little bit as I wait for Sister Amat to formulate her thoughts. I sure love her though, she has taught me so much.

Forever a mom. Don't ask me what this little one is doing or why she has an Indian sticker on her forehead.

I'm just super grateful for Heavenly Father and his perfect plan for each of us. This last week in our District Meeting we talked a lot about Patience. It wasn't until then that I truly realized, and the spirit bore testimony, of just how far I've come. Change is always hard, and although the mission is literally the best thing of my life, it certainly isn't a walk in the park. But over these past 6 months I have truly learned to be patient. i have learned to be patient with myself mostly, and learned to be patient with my Heavenly Father and His perfect timing.

In Preach My Gospel, it talks a lot about Christlike attributes, as the Savior, is truly our perfect example. There is a section about Patience that says,

Patience is the capacity to endure delay, trouble, opposition, or suffering without becoming angry, frustrated, or anxious. It is the ability to do God's will and accept His timing. When you are patient, you hold up under pressure and are able to face adversity calmly and hopefully. Patience is related to hope and faith- you must wait for the Lord's promised blessings to be fulfilled.

I'll be the first to say that I am definitely not perfect at being patient, but I do know that it is something that my mission thus far has really taught me. What a great blessing that when we are patient we are able to hold up under pressure, and we are able to face adversity calmly and hopefully. That is truly the difference. Every single one of us faces our own challenges and trials, but as I have learned to be patient, and to exercise my faith in God and His plan, I have been able to feel joy despite my circumstances, and I have been able to have hope in the knowledge that Heavenly Father truly does fulfill every promise He gives to us. And He certainly has.

Unfortunately, I don't have enough time this week to truly talk about or explain the magnitude of the promised blessings of Heavenly Father that have been fulfilled for me recently, but I do want to bare testimony that they've happened. Heavenly Father loves us so much and his greatest desire for all of us is to be able to receive all of the blessings that He has in store. Be patient, and I can promise you that the Lord will not let you down.

I sure love ya'll a lot and I pray that each of you will enjoy this Easter Sunday and take the time to truly internalize the reason we celebrate it. I know that it is because of the atonement of Jesus Christ that I am able to overcome all of my weaknesses, that He is the reason  that I have learned to be patient, and that He has given me the strength and support to do so. How grateful I am for his sacrifice for me and for each of us, and for his resurrection so that we each have the opportunity to live again.

The video below is a great way to think about our Savior during this Easter Season, and I would invite each of you to watch it.

Love always,
Sister Robertson

Apparently we didn't take many pictures this week, sorry.

But in other news, my sweet investigators, Thang and Van, who I taught in Surrey just had their sweet little girl. My heart is so full. I can not wait until they get to be sealed in the Temple as a family for time and all eternity one day. ❤

Week 28: Crazy Weather

Thursday Morning we woke up and I literally thought I was in Alabama. There was so much wind and it looked like Tornado weather. Then our power went out for a little bit, and later that day as we were walking it started to hail. Poor Sister Amat was up all night because of the storm, she has never experienced anything like this before and she was just a little bit worried.... It was a great adventure ;) She loves "ice ball rain" now lol lol

And this is how you gain weight on your mission. Everyone feeds you dessert every day.

Oh yeah, there is a Sik temple across the street from our church

Week 27: Families Can Be Together Forever

Well, I had to say good bye to sweet Sister Nelson this week. I got to go with to drop her off at the temple, and ran into Sister Rachel Travers (who also was going home) and my very first STL, Sister Ritchie. It was such a tender mercy to get to see so many sisters that I love so much before they headed home. Then we went to pick up my new companion, Sister Amat Sokupit. She is literally the cutest thing of my life. She is such a great missionary, and I feel like I'm not training at all. She is the biggest blessing.
Mama Hen, Baby Chicken

Sister Amat let me wear her traditional malaysian night gown. Who sleeps in such a cute dress?

There isn't anything too new to report on, the ward in Abbotsford is incredible, we're still getting to know the area since I just opened it last transfer, and we've had to former basically the only investigators we've been working with, so we are just out tryin to find people to teach.

We have been working with Veronica though, she is amazing. She has investigated the church for over 2 years now, and essentially lives the gospel in every way, she just can't get baptized because her husband won't let her, so send up some prayers her way. It is exciting though because she hasn't talked to her husband about baptism in a while, due to his last break down, but she's been feeling like it's time to try again. So here is to hoping he'll let her.

Another quick miracle for this week, although we had to former a lot of our investigators, we did teach this super cute Momma. She absolutley adores family, and nothing in the world means more to her than kids. We taught her the Plan of Salvation, and although she was a little reluctant about some of the things at first, by the end of the lesson she just felt like everything made so much sense! She knows that God is real and that He loves us, and all He wants is for us to be happy now, and in eternity.

I am so grateful for the Plan of Salvation, and for a loving Heavenly Father who simply wants all of his children back, and will do anything He can to help us along our way.

I hope everyone is enojoying things back home, I hear its Spring Break soon? Lol what's that.

Love always,
Sister Robertson

We did some service this week for Sister Sheila Gasper. She lives on the most beautiful farm, and it's a nice change of scenery from the city. Also service is always fun bc pants.

This is Veronica (: She didn't want a standing picture because she said I was too tall.... LOL
